Small Group Training is a fun and awesome way to try a new workout and get strong! You focus on a specific muscle group and see crazy results in a short amount of time. It’s also a great way to get to know a few people at the studio better.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I AM COMING OFF AN INJURY OR HAVE NEVER WORKED OUT WITH WEIGHTS BEFORE. IS THIS THE RIGHT CLASS FOR ME?

Absolutely YES! As long as you have clearance to exercise from your doctor, your Coach Anna will be able to help you modify movements to work with your body and prevent risk of injury - no matter your starting point.

I ALREADY ATTEND CLASSES AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WEIGHT TRAINING. WILL I STILL GET VALUE FROM THIS CLASS?

EVERYONE can always use a little more feedback and attention to form - even coaches need coaches! Specifically if you ever find that you get sore in the knees or back, or are unclear on the proper form for common exercises, this is a great class to help increase your confidence, improve your form, and progress your weights.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND CRUSHCAMP 101?

CrushCamp 101 is a special 18-capacity class offered twice per month that is in the main studio, and focuses on the SKILLMILL technique, and getting you used to the flow of a CrushCamp class so you can hop in! It is most appropriate for people who can already perform fundamental exercises (ie squat, lunge, push-up, plank, shoulder press, bicep curl) with good form. Strong Foundations is a smaller group setting and designed for people who want more one-on-one attention and support - a great starting point if you are coming off an injury, just getting back into a routine, or looking to improve your form. You can absolutely do both - but for absolute beginners we recommend starting with Strong Foundations, then heading into CrushCamp 101, then into regular classes to feel the most confident!

WILL WE USE THE SKILLMILL?

No, since this session takes place in the personal training room during regular class time, the focus will primarily be on strength and form, and while you will certainly get a sweat on, it will not include cardio or SKILLMILL exercises. If you want to try the SKILLMILL, check out our schedule and sign up for CrushCamp 101.

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

Yes! We have a complimentary lot located directly behind the studio, and street parking in front of the studio is free after 6pm. More information on parking is available here.

I CAN’T MAKE IT TO ALL THE CLASSES. CAN I DROP IN?

Due to the progressive nature of this series, we recommend registering for all 4 weeks. If you have to miss one session, we will provide a complimentary CrushCamp class as a make-up. Single drop-ins will be allowed only if space permits, but we are planning to offer another session in February - send us an email to be added to the wait list.

MEET YOUR COACH

CrushCamp Coach Anna Iskra introduces Strong Foundations: Intro to Strength Training, beginning January 7 at CrushCamp.

ANNA ISKRA, B.KIN, CSEP CPT

Anna is a self-proclaimed outdoor enthusiast and weekend warrior. When she is not helping her clients crush their goals, she can often be found in the back country hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and maybe enjoying an outback brew with her husband! While she loves to support athletes training for big events, her philosophy is more lifestyle oriented: “Me, I'm not chasing athletic ability on a competitive scale-when asked what I'm training for, my reply is simply for Life. My priority has always been to take care of my body and to be able to live a very active lifestyle.”

With a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, as well as training certifications through Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) CPT, Fit4Two Pre and Postnatal Specialist, FST Level 1 Therapist, and a background as a Hiking Lead, Anna is more than able and excited to help anyone achieve their goals - no matter their starting point! “I want people to leave feeling sweaty and successful. Maybe even pleasantly surprised that they were able to do an exercise or lift a specific weight that they didn't think was possible for them. Set goals, crush them, repeat!”

Anna’s current goals: Being able to deadlift double my body weight and lead climb 5.10a- 5.10c confidently!

And I quote: "Because in the end you wont remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing the lawn. Climb that goddam mountain."- Jack Kerouac

Anna made it a point to have our time together build off my interests, goals and successes, be fun so I could enjoy the experience, and get creative in the ways I used my body and built strength. I needed someone to have my back, to forgive me when I was moody about the workout, laugh with me every session, find ways to make me excited and engaged, to be effective so I could see results and push beyond my own preconceived limits. She was in it with me, I got stronger and healthier, I was beyond grateful for her expertise, patience, encouragement, knowledge, creativity, enthusiasm and character. I would train with her always if I could.
