Mom Strength. It comes in all kinds of forms. Physical, emotional, and mental. There is no 4 week program that can help you train for it, it is this amazing phenomenon that naturally happens. You devoted your body and mind for 9 months to grow and carry your baby. Now that they are here, you are devoting even more time to care for this little one. That is why I want to give you the opportunity to take care of your health and fitness. For 2 hours a week, you momma are the main focus. We will work on improving overall body strength and endurance, as well as placing more emphasis on your core strength. We will have fun, we will laugh and maybe pee ourselves a little. I will encourage you to give it your all, all the while safely working out with your baby by your side.

Strong as a motha’ - outside edition

For July and August we will be taking Strong as a Motha outside! This drop-in edition of our Strong as a Motha series will let you soak up some Vitamin D while we focus on reconnecting you with your core, and improving your overall body strength and endurance. Give it your all, all the while safely working out with your baby by your side. Meet at the park and please bring a yoga mat for yourself, and a blanket and some toys for your little one. We will be working out at the playground in Stanley Park, off of 42 Avenue SW. You can park along 42 Avenue SW before the traffic circle, but it will be easier with a stroller if you park in the parking lot off of 4A Street SW and then walk over to the playground. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW OLD CAN MY BABY BE?

Babies aged 4 weeks up to 12 months old are welcome. Please bring your carrier as there is not enough space for strollers. Babies will have their own mats but you are more than welcome to bring a blanket and all the toys needed to keep baby entertained. Mom will need clearance from her OBGYN or family doctor for physical activity.

I AM COMING OFF AN INJURY, HAVE ABDOMINAL SEPARATION, OR HAVE NEVER WORKED OUT BEFORE. IS THIS THE RIGHT CLASS FOR ME?

Absolutely YES! As long as you have clearance to exercise from your doctor, your Coach Anna will be able to help you modify movements to work with your body and prevent risk of injury - no matter your starting point.

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE?

You can park along 42 Avenue SW before the traffic circle, but it will be easier with a stroller if you park in the parking lot off of 4A Street SW and then walk over to the playground.

MEET YOUR COACH

ANNA ISKRA, B.KIN, CSEP CPT

Anna is a self-proclaimed outdoor enthusiast and weekend warrior. When she is not helping her clients crush their goals, she can often be found in the back country hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and maybe enjoying an outback brew with her husband! While she loves to support athletes training for big events, her philosophy is more lifestyle oriented: “Me, I'm not chasing athletic ability on a competitive scale-when asked what I'm training for, my reply is simply for Life. My priority has always been to take care of my body and to be able to live a very active lifestyle.”

With a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, as well as training certifications through Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) CPT, Fit4Two Pre and Postnatal Specialist, FST Level 1 Therapist, and a background as a Hiking Lead, Anna is more than able and excited to help anyone achieve their goals - no matter their starting point! “I want people to leave feeling sweaty and successful. Maybe even pleasantly surprised that they were able to do an exercise or lift a specific weight that they didn't think was possible for them. Set goals, crush them, repeat!”

Anna’s current goals: Being able to deadlift double my body weight and lead climb 5.10a- 5.10c confidently!

Anna made it a point to have our time together build off my interests, goals and successes, be fun so I could enjoy the experience, and get creative in the ways I used my body and built strength. I needed someone to have my back, to forgive me when I was moody about the workout, laugh with me every session, find ways to make me excited and engaged, to be effective so I could see results and push beyond my own preconceived limits. She was in it with me, I got stronger and healthier, I was beyond grateful for her expertise, patience, encouragement, knowledge, creativity, enthusiasm and character. I would train with her always if I could.

Opened in December 2017 on 17th Avenue in Calgary by owner Emily Slaneff, CrushCamp offers both group high intensity interval training and personal training, in addition to run workshops, nutrition services, and special workshops. Our goal is to offer more: more results, more community, more accountability, and more growth. We like to say that “as lone wolves we are strong, but as a Wolfpack, we are unstoppable!”
